We are saddened to report that our beloved Sadie passed away on November 27th, 2007. At the ripe old age of 15 1/2 years old Sadie succumbed to a tumor in her throat that restricted her breathing and her ability to eat.  She will be sorely missed.

Sadie and Max

These are images of Sadie and Maximus Herrmann von Bruffmore.  Sadie is an unregistered purebred Cocker Spaniel. She was a twin when born and the runt of the litter.  The most she has ever weighed is 24 lbs. She is all black except for a little white star on her chest and, now that she's 14 years old, gray on her face.  Sadie won't eat sweets but has grown to enjoy a sampling of lightly seasoned cooked chicken and rice with her meals.

Maximus (a/k/a Mad Max or Mr. Big) was born on July 21st, 2006.  Max is one of a litter of eleven puppies and the second litter for White Baron von Bruffmore of Bruffmore Kennels in Ball Ground, Georgia.  Max was the pick of the litter and while Sadie would rather we had not gotten the new addition, he is growing on her too.  Maybe it's because he is pestering her so much that she has given up her will to fight or she likes him. It's probably not the latter!

We first saw Max and all his brothers and sister on September 9th.  We had decided before meeting with Lynn and Carl that Saturday that we were not leaving with a puppy, we already had a great dog.  Well, we stuck to our guns and Lynn and Carl brought Max to us the following weekend.  Max was too young to go home with us on the 9th!  He weighed 17 lbs. when he arrived.  Sadie was only slightly larger (but a whole lot more spoiled) at 21 lbs.  By the second week, Max had eaten his way to 20 lbs.  At 3 lbs. a week, he could weigh 170 lbs. in a year; however, we expect Max to top out at around 130 lbs, the same weight as his daddy.

At 9 weeks old Max has already learned that he needs to do his business outside however, he has also found that he enjoys chewing on shoes, drapes, furniture and our feet, toes and anything else that gets close to those snapping turtle jaws of his.  He's also learning to walk with a leash but doesn't seems to like it much yet.  He does like to chew on the leash.
